One thing I love about the DIY process is gathering inspiration. One of the things that I do to gather inspiration is go to the craft store. I love Hobby Lobby, Joann’s and Michaels. We also have a specialty store in Orlando called Sam Flax that I love. I could spend hours just walking around these stores. Sometimes I walk up and down every single aisle and look for things that inspire me. I was in Hobby Lobby yesterday and I came across a polka dot rubber stamp. It gave me the idea to use it to polka dot clothing items.
What you need to make these shorts:
Steps:
Put some screen printing ink on the piece of glass. Roll it out with the brayer.
Once the brayer is evenly covered with ink, roll the ink onto the stamp. Using a brayer allows the ink to be distributed evenly on the stamp.
Then stamp your shorts. Use the rolling pin to roll over the top of the stamp. Doing it this way will help the ink on the stamp to distribute onto the shorts.
Continue to repeat the steps above. You can either line up the stamp with the dots you previously stamped or do like I did and just stamp all over. I wanted mine to look a little more graphic and not so perfect. Once the front of your shorts are covered with dots, let dry.
Once dry, repeat for the back of the shorts. Make sure you follow the directions on the screen printing ink and heat set the ink once it is dry.
That’s it!
